One Country Project Statement on November Jobs Report

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Today, One Country Project founder Heidi Heitkamp issued the following statement after the release of the November jobs report:

“November’s lackluster jobs report shows the fragile state of our economy as we continue to respond to and recover from the COVID-19 pandemic.  In the face of supply chain issues, corresponding price increases, and the threat of a new COVID variant, it is crucial Congress passes policies to provide relief and stability to American families.

“As the Biden administration works tirelessly to implement the bipartisan Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act passed last month, it is already paying dividends by injecting  new jobs and investments into the U.S. economy. President Biden’s decision to open the strategic petroleum reserve will also have a direct impact on the day-to-day lives of Americans, especially those living in rural communities.

“But Congress must keep passing legislation to ease the financial burden on working Americans. It is promising that a bipartisan agreement to continue funding the government through February was reached last night, but that cooperation must continue to address inflation, support working families, and give rural communities the building blocks to see long-term economic success. The Build Back Better Act is one of the clearest ways to meet those goals and passing this legislation as quickly as possible will be key to keep the economic recovery moving forward for Americans across the country.”
