One Country Project Statement on House Passage of the Build Back Better Bill
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, One Country Project (OCP) co-founder Senator Heidi Heitkamp issued the following statement of support following the passage of the Build Back Better bill by the U.S. House of Representatives.“The House passage of the Build Back Better bill ushers in a new era of investment for American communities. Together with the recently signed Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, this legislation will bring jobs to more Americans and help make everyday necessities – like childcare and health care – more affordable.
“In passing the Build Back Better bill, Democrats in the House signaled they are united to bring economic support to every corner of the United States. Now, it is time for the Senate to drive the message home by passing Build Back Better: Democrats in Washington are delivering for constituents and addressing their pain points, not trying to roadblock much needed financial assistance for hardworking folks, as the GOP did last night.
"Lastly, passing the legislation must be followed by connecting it to real people’s lives. Particularly in rural communities, lawmakers must visit their constituents and make sure they are feeling the positive effects of these new construction projects, universal preschool, health care tax rebates, and other benefits that will come from Build Back Better and the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act. It is essential we bridge the gap between what happens in Washington and what occurs in everyday life – that type of authentic outreach is what will sustain good, Democratic governance.”
