One Country Project Releases Updated Rural Policy Roadmap on Transportation Infrastructure
Washington, D.C. – Today, One Country Project released an update in its Rural Policy Roadmap Series to highlight how the bipartisan infrastructure law, the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA), can significantly improve and update rural transportation infrastructure. The roadmap’s release comes as the U.S. Senate’s Subcommittee on Housing, Transportation, and Community Development (HTCD) holds a hearing on the bipartisan infrastructure law’s effect on smaller cities and rural areas. Responding to the hearing, OCP founder and former Senator Heidi Heitkamp issued the following statement:
“By investing in America’s roads, bridges and railways – among other projects – the bipartisan infrastructure law is a great first step toward improving quality of life in rural communities. America’s transportation systems play an integral role in keeping the economy running, and these investments will help keep our farming and manufacturing communities connected – all the more important during a time of supply chain shortages and inflation.
“One Country Project’s latest rural roadmap on rural transportation infrastructure aims to elevate this important policy conversation at the federal level. The Biden administration and Democrats in Congress are showing a commitment to prioritizing the concerns of rural Americans, and that pattern must continue as the bipartisan infrastructure law continues to be implemented.”
