One Country Statement on August 2022 Jobs Report
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, One Country Project founder and former Senator Heidi Heitkamp issued the following statement after the release of the August jobs report:“Today’s jobs report marks the twentieth consecutive month of job growth – a sign that the policies enacted by the Biden administration and Democratic Congress have been effective in rebuilding and strengthening our economy. Under Biden’s presidency, we have seen the fastest job growth in history. The 20 million jobs lost during the pandemic have all been recovered and more, with 315,000 jobs added in August. With the passage of the Chips and Science Act and the Inflation Reduction Act, President Biden and Democrats are creating good paying manufacturing and clean energy jobs, reducing health care costs, and stimulating U.S. economic competitiveness through investments in rural America.
“The Federal Reserve’s strategy of raising interest rates to slow down the economy may be beginning to take effect and ease inflation. Gas prices have fallen for 80 straight days and are down $1.20 per gallon from the beginning of the summer. However, Congress and the Biden Administration must continue to work together to bring down inflation through actions that would reduce the deficit, invest in economic growth, and ensure stability for everyday Americans across the country.”
