One Country Statement on September 2022 Jobs Report
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, One Country Project (OCP) founder and former Senator Heidi Heitkamp issued the following statement after the release of the September jobs report:“Today’s jobs numbers reflect a transition to steady growth in a healthy economy. 10 million jobs have been added in the 21 months since President Biden took office – proof that the policies his administration and the Democratic Congress enacted have been effective at rebuilding our economy. The addition of 263,000 jobs in September coupled with a 50-year-low unemployment rate, illustrates a successful shift out of recovery and into strength and stability.
“Today, on National Manufacturing Day, we celebrate the resurgence of the American manufacturing labor force. The Inflation Reduction Act and CHIPS and Science Act are working to create good-paying microchip manufacturing and clean energy jobs throughout the country. The CHIPS Act provides $1 billion for the Rebuilding Economies and Creating Opportunities for More People to Excel (RECOMPETE) Pilot Program, which lays the foundation for long-term economic growth and investments that will reinvigorate manufacturing in rural America. Although prices are still high as Russia’s invasion of Ukraine continues to impact the supply for food and fertilizer, these policies will help to put money back into Americans’ pocketbooks and ensure peace of mind for millions of families.
“Unfortunately, Congressional Republicans are taking credit for the latest jobs report and other wins Democrats have secured, while also threatening to repeal the very laws that delivered those benefits to Americans.
