One Country Statement on December 2022 Jobs Report
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, One Country Project issued the following statement after the release of the December jobs report:“The final jobs report of 2022 exhibits the strides President Biden and Democrats in Congress have taken to build an economy that creates opportunities for Americans across the nation and rural America. The addition of 223,000 jobs totals to 4.5 million in 2022, marking the second-best year for the labor market after 2021’s record 6.7 million gains. The more moderate gains in recent months are a sign that the Federal Reserve’s strategies to curb inflation are taking effect.
“In the two years since President Biden took office, the labor market has grown to recover all jobs lost during the pandemic and is easing into steadier growth. As Republicans struggle to kick off the 118th Congress in the House and we mark the anniversary of the insurrection, we hope to see members from both sides of the aisle come together to deliver for the American people as Democrats did in the 117th Congress. The passage of the American Rescue Plan, Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, the Inflation Reduction Act, PACT Act, and the Chips and Science Act put in place policies that would support hard-working Americans – specifically rural Americans – and position our economy to thrive both in the short and long term.”
