One Country Statement on September 2024 Jobs Report
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, One Country Project (OCP) issued the following statement after the release of the September jobs report:
“September started the fall off strong with the addition of 254,000 jobs to the labor market. This growth, paired with declining unemployment at 4.1% and stronger wages, provides reassurance for the strengthening of the labor market as the election quickly approaches. It was encouraging to see robust hiring across the healthcare and leisure and hospitality industries.
“The Biden-Harris administration’s strong leadership has made our economy more resilient, successfully guiding the labor market to stability. As the presidential election nears, now is a critical time for Congress to show up for rural Americans who are integral to our economy. Lawmakers have the opportunity to build off job market progress and continue to foster economic growth for working families.”
