One Country Statement on December 2024 Jobs Report
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, One Country Project (OCP) issued the following statement after the release of the December jobs report:
“In December, the U.S. labor market demonstrated resilience by adding 256,000 jobs, surpassing economists’ expectations and highlighting the economy’s continued strength. Employers across various sectors, including healthcare, retail, and government, contributed to this impressive growth, with the unemployment rate dipping to 4.1%.
“One Country Project applauds the Biden-Harris administration’s steadfast leadership which has given our economy the momentum it needed to stabilize and grow. Throughout President Biden’s presidency, 16.6 million jobs were created and record high employment rates for working age women were reached. As the Biden administration prepares for the transition of power, President-elect Donald Trump will once again inherit a strong economy and take credit for its recovery. With the future of our economy and direction of the country in the balance, the American people and members of Congress must hold the incoming president accountable to maintain this economic strength and not endanger our economy with another shortsighted handout to his billionaire handlers.”
