ONE COUNTRY PROJECT RELEASES IMPACT SOCIAL REPORT

Americans Are Talking About Their Anxieties – And Our Elected Leaders Need to Listen

WASHINGTON, D.C.One Country Project (OCP) today released its second installment of the Impact Social Report, analyzing social media discussions in the month of April across five U.S. regions. The report identifies the leading economic concerns of Americans, including tariffs, job security, and the cost of living.

“The frustrations of Americans are growing, and they are expressing their economic concerns. Elected officials must make it a priority to listen to these anxieties in order to open a dialogue with communities around the country. With our Impact Social Report, OCP has insights into what factors are driving these concerns, and how they have grown throughout the first few months of Trump’s presidency,” said founding board member and former North Dakota Senator Heidi Heitkamp.

OCP observed social media traffic in April 2025, and identified key insights into issues that Americans are discussing:

  • Tariffs remain a key concern for Americans, impacting nearly every area.
  • Americans are concerned about how tariffs will affect essential goods. Groceries, healthcare, and utilities, which are already difficult to manage, may become unaffordable.
  • The fallout of Trump’s “Liberation Day” increased confusion among Americans, as it has become clear that the administration has no plan.
  • Tariffs are viewed as threats to the livelihoods of Americans and there is widespread uncertainty about the future.
  • DOGE continues to spur American’s anxiety about job security, contributing to feelings of instability even for private sector workers.
