ONE COUNTRY PROJECT RELEASES MAY IMPACT SOCIAL REPORT

Americans Are Talking About Their Anxieties – And Our Elected Leaders Need to Listen

One Country Project (OCP) today released its released its third installment of the Impact Social Report, analyzing social media discussions in the month of May across five U.S. regions. The report identifies the leading economic concerns of Americans, including tariffs, job security, and the cost of living.

  • Concerns surrounding job security stabilized and negative sentiment dropped as fears about job security became less front-of-mind for Americans.
  • Conversations surrounding tariffs have decreased and discourse has become less frantic.
  • Though fears about tariffs have slowed, the confusion and panic they caused led Americans to pause big-ticket spending and become less economically active.
  • Moods have shifted from anxious to cautious, as it is clear that TACO’s threats will often not materialize.
