One Country Project's 2025 Rural Progress Summit Concludes
WASHINGTON, D.C. – One Country Project (OCP) recently concluded its fourth annual Rural Progress Summit, a three-day event which included over a dozen panels on different topics related to rural America, featured conversations with esteemed members of Congress and political officials, and informative presentations on notable trends in America.
OCP welcomed several notable guests including former Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg, Senator Martin Heinrich (D-NM), former Senator Sherrod Brown (D-OH), Representative Chrissy Houlahan (D-PA), Senator Cory Booker (D-NJ), Governor of Kentucky Andy Beshear, American Elections Attorney for the Democratic Party Marc Elias, and more. Throughout the event, panelists shared valuable and genuine insights on some of the most pressing issues facing rural America today.
Former Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg touched on the importance of having serious and respectful conversations in our communities saying, “It’s important to find spaces in our lives that are not on their face political where you can talk about big picture things, not to pick partisan fights, but to find common ground. We’ve got to do that because it’s actually part of what’s best about this country. What makes us American is our civic identity and our commitment to being part of that process as citizens.”
During a panel on understanding working class voters, former Senator Sherrod Brown shared his thoughts saying, “Urban and rural voters have most things in common. They don’t see politics as left or right. They see who is on their side. We’ve got to be the party that stands up for workers and listens to them.”
As today’s political landscape grows increasingly complex, OCP remains committed to strengthening the dialogue between rural Americans and those creating the policies in Washington. Most importantly, OCP will continue to advocate for advancing rural America’s priorities and uplift these invaluable voices.
