Iowa State Representative Adam Zabner Joins One Country Project Board
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, One Country Project (OCP) announced Iowa State Representative Adam Zabner (D-90) as the newest member of its Board of Directors.
“Representative Zabner is a great example of the kind of leadership we need in government, bringing a fresh perspective, a deep passion for advancing smart state policies forward, and an understanding of the needs of rural America. One Country Project is lucky to have him on board,” said former U.S. Senator Heidi Heitkamp.
Adam Zabner hit the ground running in the political sphere from an early age. Born and raised in Iowa and a child of immigrants, his passion and appreciation for the state led to him to stay in Iowa long term. He received a wonderful public education at City High and went to college at the University of Chicago. In middle school and high school, he volunteered for the Obama and Clinton campaigns and in college he organized his classmates to make calls for the 2018 midterms in Iowa.
The urgency of the 2020 elections inspired Adam to become more involved in politics. Adam took time off of school to work as an organizer for the Pete Buttigieg campaign, then as the regional organizing director for the Iowa Democratic Party in northwest Iowa during the general. Working for Heidi Heitkamp’s One Country Project as an intern, Adam helped put together a playbook for how Democrats can be effective in rural America. His work in organizing has prepared him to work tirelessly to move the state of Iowa forward.
“I ran for office because too many of the friends I grew up with are struggling to find opportunity in Iowa. I believe that Iowa and rural America can not only thrive but can lead on some of the most pressing issues facing our country,” said State Representative Adam Zabner. “I am thrilled to join the One Country Project Board and contribute to the collective effort to uplift the priorities of rural Americans and spur economic growth in these communities through meaningful advocacy that effectively reconnects Democrats in Washington to rural America.”
