One Country Project on the Loss of The Honorable David Scott (GA-13)

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, One Country Project (OCP) issued the following statement upon learning of the loss of The Honorable David Scott (GA-13):

"Congressman Scott leaves an impact for African American farmers and college students that will be hard to match. He secured more than $80 million for historically Black colleges and universities in the 2018 Farm Bill. The money was steered to agriculture-related scholarships at 19 campuses. I join with so many who worked with him to offer my condolences to his wife, Alfredia and the rest of their family," shared former U.S. Secretary of Agriculture and member of the One Country Project Board of Directors, Mike Espy.

Former Ambassador Joe Donnelly served with Scott in the U.S. House from 2007-2013 and shared the following, "David was always focused on agriculture and making sure that small farmers were just as much a part of the conversation as large ag groups. He had a special passion for black farmers and their needs, truly their greatest champion."
