One Country Project Calls Trump Out on Trade

The President's Promises Have Failed to Live Up to His Bluster

WASHINGTON, D.C. Today, the One Country Project released a report including a diverse collection of trade statistics, all showing President Trump's continued and repeated economic failings. Heidi Heitkamp, Founding Board Member of the One Country Project and former Senator of North Dakota, issued the following statement:

“President Trump has failed to deliver on trade, period. Trump has promised farmers they’d win like never before, but they’ve been hit with high levels of bankruptcy and dwindling agricultural exports. He’s promised to stick up for everyday Americans, but they’ve been stiffed with paying more for goods and services because of steep tariffs. He’s promised that China will feel the pinch, and everything will ultimately be okay, but business is moving to Vietnam and Canada – not returning to the United States.

“Simply put, the president is not making the American economy great. He has undermined American manufacturing, construction, agriculture, and business confidence. He has made terrible decisions and failed to make whole those who bore the brunt of his empty promises.”
