ONE COUNTRY PROJECT COMMENDS AGRICULTURE PROVISIONS IN THE INFLATION REDUCTION ACT
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, One Country Project founder Heidi Heitkamp issued the following statement on the Inflation Reduction Act:
“Congress has demonstrated tremendous leadership in taking steps to ease the burden of inflation and climate change on American communities. The nearly $40 billion investment in agriculture, forestry, and energy provisions within the Inflation Reduction Act will lower costs and create good-paying jobs for rural Americans.
“This legislation must be passed as multiple crises – the COVID-19 pandemic, climate change, the economic fallout from Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, supply chain shocks from our continued overreliance on imported goods – continue to rock the country, laying bare the disparities between rural America and the rest of the country. Bringing resources back to America’s heartland will strengthen the entire country’s economy and will help ensure that historically underserved parts of America receive the funds necessary to combat the economic, environmental, and health challenges it faces. Equipped with crucial funds, farmers, ranchers, small business owners, and rural residents will be able to lead local efforts to create resilient and sustainable rural communities. We applaud the elected leaders in the Senate for working to provide the investments rural communities need to thrive.”
