One Country Project Launches Rural Policy Roadmap

Washington, D.C. – Today, One Country Project (OCP) announced its Rural Policy Roadmap series and released the first roadmap highlighting the importance of carbon sequestration and policy solutions to make the agriculture industry a part of the fight against climate change.

“As Congress and President Biden debate legislation to rebuild our economy and invest in critical infrastructure, it’s time to bring rural communities into the policy process and to do the work with them, not to them,” said OCP co-founder Heidi Heitkamp. “Our rural roadmap series will highlight the policies and issues that are important to rural Americans and to building the American economy of the future, including carbon sequestration, transportation infrastructure, and broadband access.

“Rural communities should be a critical partner in implementing policies like carbon sequestration to help combat climate change and spur our economic recovery as we emerge from the COVID-19 pandemic. With this series, rural advocates and lawmakers will be armed with the information they need to stand up for America’s small towns and communities in economic and infrastructure policy discussions.”

The first roadmap digs into the economic, climate, and soil health benefits of carbon sequestration and the policies and practices to make the agriculture industry an integral part of the climate change solution.
